Perlite is puffed volcanic ash that aids in water retention and allows air pockets in the soil, which allows oxygen to flow through the root system of plants.
Coco Coir is great for the ultimate aeration for soil. This provides air pockets that allow oxygen to flow through the soil and roots. This also emulates the natural growing environment of most aroid plants that are epiphytes (plants that grow on trees).
Sheet moss is great for water retention and suppressing moisture down to the soil. It is a great soil topper for moisture loving plants.
